Von der Leyen is in Tirana as part of the EU-WB6 Investment Forum, which will last two days and will be attended by leaders of the Western Balkans.
The forum aims to strengthen economic cooperation and investment opportunities between the Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia) and the member states of the European Union (EU).
Supported by the European Commission, this Forum is part of the EU's broader strategy to promote regional integration and socio-economic convergence, fostering sustainable economic development across the region.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has today (13 October) embarked on a tour of the Western Balkans to highlight the European Union's support for the region's EU accession process and to discuss the EU's €6 billion Growth Plan for the Western Balkans for the period 2024-2027.
Her visit began in Tirana where von der Leyen met with the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, and will then hold a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The meetings will focus on Albania's path to EU integration, as well as opportunities for economic cooperation and improving regional ties.
Following her meetings with Begaj and Rama, President von der Leyen will deliver a speech at the Regional Investment Conference for the Western Balkans, which will take place in the afternoon. This speech will focus on the EU's commitment to supporting the region's economic development and new investment opportunities.
According to the official agenda, the forum will open with a welcoming speech by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who will underline the importance of the event for the development of the region. After him, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will deliver her opening speech.
After her visit to Albania, von der Leyen will travel to Tivat, Montenegro, where she will hold meetings with President Jakov Milatović and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić. She will discuss regional cooperation and the necessary reforms that will help Montenegro advance towards EU integration.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, President von der Leyen will visit the Srebrenica memorial and meet with members of the Bosnian Presidency, as well as the Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto.
On October 15, she will travel to Belgrade, where she will meet with President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Đuro Macut to discuss Serbia's progress on the path of European integration and opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the EU and Serbia.
At the end of the trip, von der Leyen will visit Pristina, where she will hold meetings with President Vjosa Osmani and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti to discuss Kosovo's efforts for EU integration and the country's economic development.
