This Friday, the country's public universities underwent academic elections for rector, dean and academic senate.
Voting for rector, dean, heads of departments and Academic Senate in universities was accompanied by irregularities in the capital.
At the University of Tirana and at the Polytechnic, the media faced a lack of transparency and blocked reporting.
The voting process, which opened at 8:00 a.m. this Friday and closed at 4:00 p.m., did not have a high turnout, as it appeared that not all voters showed up willing to vote.
Although the fever was absent at the University of Tirana, where the rector Artan Hoxha sought a second term without a rival, the same also at the Agricultural University, Fatbardh Sallaku, and for the only candidate Agron Kasa, at the University of Sports and Xheladin Dracini at Medicine, as well at the Polytechnic with the vice-rector Akli Fundo, who seeks the position of rector unopposed, the regulation defines a condition for the validity of the votes.
When there is only one candidate in the elections for the governing bodies of the universities, the ballot paper provides the method of voting for or against. And when there are over 50% of the votes against, the result is not known and the elections will have to be repeated.
At the University of Arts, with 3 more votes of the lecturers, Erald Bakalli won against Artan Peqini.
There was a narrow result of votes in Shkodër where Tonin Gjuraj was elected, removing the possibility of a second term from the current rector Rajmonda Kcira and the other candidate Nertila Ljarja.
In Korça, Lorenc Ekonomi at Fan Noli University won with almost 50% of the votes, while Robert Damo was ranked second, followed by Irena Nikaj.
In Durrës, the votes of the lecturers have chosen Shkëlqim Fortuzi as the rector of "Aleksandër Moisiu" for the next four years, in close contrast with professor Osman Metalla.
In Vlora, in the race with three candidates, Aurela Saliaj won.
In Elbasan, with about 90% of the votes, Elvira Fetahu, who until now held the position of vice-rector, was elected.
Even in Gjirokastra, the victory is certain for the only candidate Jaho Cana.
