The director of QSUT, Albana Fico, gave a statement to the media after the fire that involved the new emergency. She said that the fire that broke out in the early hours of the morning in the emergency room of this building was caused by a technical defect.
Fico underlined that there are no injuries and that all patients have been moved to other facilities of QSUT and their treatment is continuing normally.
"There was no loss of life and there was no deterioration due to this technical defect. There is still a technical alarm signal below, which indicates that this building has very high security elements, making it possible for our patients to be safe at every step when they are under our supervision in the hospital.
It was a glitch in a technical room that is being evaluated and monitored on an ongoing basis. The entire technical group, together with the maintenance of QSUT, have every type of element under control. It's limited damage, just a technical room. This has not affected anything else.
The Central Hospital is a hospital that treats the most serious cases. The services have taken their measures, including resuscitation. We have patients who, for higher security, we have moved inside the QSUT, there are no changes in their parameters, they are following their treatments" , emphasized the director of the QSUT, Albana Fico.
