Kosovo was once again rocked by armed clashes between criminal groups that roam freely, with a focus on its capital, Pristina.
The bullets fired between these groups on Tuesday evening took the life of a bystander, 48-year-old Zejnie Gashi, who was buried yesterday.
In the announcement of her death by her family members, it was said that she was killed by mafia groups, which the institutions of Kosovo are never saying, although the late Gashi is not the only one in Pristina who dies from clashes between gangs.
"On 27.03.2024, by the criminal hand of mafia groups in Pristina, as a bystander, our sister was killed," the family's announcement states. But none of the heads of state; like Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President Vjosa Osmani, Minister of Internal Affairs Xelal Sveçla did not condemn the act. No press release, silence from the state.
The conflict started between Fitim Doda, known by the nickname "Cuci" and the brothers Ahmet and Naim Berisha in the Kolovica neighborhood, where 30-year-old Egzon Haziri from Podujeva was also killed. He died at the scene. Haziri was in the car with Fitim Doda and several others.
The Kosovo police have declared four people wanted as suspects for serious murder; Fitim Doda, Arjan Sijarina, Ahmet Berisha and Naim Berisha.
