Beqaj was handcuffed for 500 thousand euro invoices, 33 million euro funds were stolen in agriculture...
The arrest of Ilir Beqaj for abuse of EU funds seems to be an alarm bell for the former Minister of Agriculture Frida Krifca, as her name has also come out in a similar scheme.
Beqaj is in a cell for 500 thousand euros, while Frida Krifca has wasted nearly 33 million euros of funds that the EU provided for agriculture. We are talking about the IPARD affair.
OLAF has found countless violations when Krifca was in charge of AZHBR and has submitted a very voluminous file to SPAK. Unlike Beqaj, Krifca has a mountain of problems. There is evidence, testimony and facts, as we are dealing with a very big abuse. The EU itself has said several times that it wants the "head" of Krifca, after exerting great pressure for a deeper investigation. According to the sources, they are carefully following the investigations through their envoys in Tirana. In March, the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, was sent a reminder letter by OLAF, regarding the said criminal report. Now the ball is in SPAK's goal.
A few days ago, OLAF issued a report, shedding light on the affair. In the annual report, OLAF reveals that during the investigation it was observed that the farmers were obliged to share a large percentage of their grant with the consulting company, which would act as the intermediary with the AZHBR. It is also stated in the document that some other irregularities were found during the grant awarding phase and the implementation of some projects.
The irregularities found with the European Union funds for agriculture in Albania amount to 33 million euros, which is 2.5 times higher than the amount of 13 million euros that was not used properly by 6 other countries. in the Balkans such as Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Romania.
The total amount of irregularities found in 7 Balkan countries is about 47 million euros, of which 71% belong to Albania and 13 million euros, or 29%, in 6 other countries.
Due to irregularities and fraudulent schemes, the EU has blocked IPARD funds for Albania, giving a heavy blow to the sector, which suffers from a lack of internal funding, among other things. / Pamphlet
