Prime Minister Edi Rama rightly said yesterday that Sali Berisha was insulting the Lezha area by offering Gjin Gjon, a symbol of corruption in the judiciary, as a candidate for deputy.
But, it seems that Rama does not differ much from Berisha in this respect. Rama has confirmed the head of the Elbasan Hospital, Agron Gaxho, a symbol of the abuse of power in Elbasan, as a candidate for MP in Elbasan. Based on some evidence and circumstances, Agron Gaxho's candidacy is an insult that Rama makes to Elbasan.
Agron Gaxho, former director of forests of Fatmir Mediu, where the latter was Minister of Environment, has appropriated public assets in Elbasan by turning them into private businesses. Agron Gaxho's brother, Nik Gaxho, a character with a dark past abroad, is the director of bankrupt state enterprises in Elbasan. Some of the military and civilian enterprises were looted by Agron Gaxho, through his family members, by renting them to some Italian entrepreneurs.
IME bar-cafe, restaurant, laundry, etc., a business complex in Elbasan, are the property of director Agron Gaxho, who has alienated public assets and invested dubious money, turning them into a family business. Agron Gaxho is also behind a hydroelectric power plant in Gjinar, Elbasan, and other assets worth hundreds of thousands of euros.
Meanwhile, Agron Gaxho is one of Gentian Sharra's corruption lines with tenders, part of Talo Çela's gang. On the eve of the end-of-year holidays, on December 30, 2022, the head of the "Xhaferr Kongoli" regional hospital in Elbasan, Agron Gaxho, renewed for the third consecutive year with Olta Sharra the contract for the cooking and distribution of food for the patients of his hospital. Olta Sharra is Gentian Sharra's wife. At the time when Agron Gaxho renewed the contract, the subject "Olta Sharra" had been under seizure by SPAK for six months as a suspected derivative of criminal sources.
During the years 2023-2024, during which time Gentian Sharra was in prison, he received hundreds of thousands of euros of public money, through his wife Olta Sharra, from the Elbasan Hospital and the Elbasan Psychiatric Hospital. Gentian Sharra has previously been convicted of drug trafficking, and is part of Talo Çela's gang in several violent robberies over the last 10 years.
Agron Gaxho is a close associate of Eral Myftaraj, the symbol of corruption with tenders in the Elbasan Region, fraud with the implementation of contracts and false documents. Around 9 million euros in tenders that Eral Myftaraj has received from Elbasan hospitals, together with Nazif Bajrami, who is wanted for cocaine trafficking in Switzerland, are suspected of having received with the help of Agron Gaxho. Part of the money is believed to have ended up in the pockets of some SP deputies, who are behind Eral Myftaraj, who has also bought a yacht with the money from corruption with tenders./Prapaskena
