On May 22, 2024, although the government did not convene, it announced two separate decisions, taken by it and signed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, with the object of payments to members of the commissions that will grant licenses for online betting and cannabis cultivation.
In the first decision, it is determined that the members of the commission for the licensing of cannabis companies will receive a bonus payment of 250 Euros per month, on top of their salaries for their duties, while the chairman will receive 300 Euros per month.
For the officials of this government, accustomed to tenders in the millions of lek, the bonuses of 250-300 Euros per month are crumbs, at least as much as 1 bottle of wine that they consume at lunch and dinner.
This payment will be permanent, when licenses for the cultivation of cannabis will be granted once with a term of over 10 years, while the supervision of the cultivation of cannabis will be done by another government commission, which will be directed by the prime minister.
The Cannabis Companies Licensing Commission consists of the Minister of Health and his 2 subordinates; from 1 representative of the Ministry of the Interior; from the Minister of Agriculture and his 1 subordinate and from the Minister of Economy-Culture and Innovation.
In the second decision of the government, it is determined that the members of the commission for the licensing of online betting companies will receive a reward of 300 Euros per month, on top of the salaries for their duties, while the chairman will receive 350 Euros per month.
The betting companies' licensing commission consists of the Minister of Finance, who is the chairman; from the Minister of Economy-Culture and Innovation; from the Minister for Health and Social Affairs and 1 representative from the National Agency of the Information Society.
Even for this commission, the additional payments will be permanent, when the licenses will be granted once with a term of over 10 years, while the supervision of the cabanist will be done by another government commission.
