State Budget funds continue to go to the family of the mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, through abusive tenders.
The family of the mayor of Durres, Emiriana Sako, benefits from millions of euros from the state budget through her two car rental and sales companies: “Mektrin Motors” and “EUROCAR Rentals”. Through close ties to the ruling Socialist Party, these companies continue to receive inflated public contracts worth millions of euros.
The State Police has awarded a record number of tenders to the Sako family, with two contracts worth 5 million euros, for the rental of cars, at a price of 34 thousand euros for a car for 4 years of use.
According to the Public Procurement Bulletin dated August 25, 2025, the company "Mektrin Motors" has also benefited from 1.7 million euros from the Ministry of Interior, for the needs of the facility security company "Illyrian Guard". The tender has been divided into three lots:
Lot One: purchase of “4+1 seat” vehicles, total value 1.1 million euros including VAT.
Lot Two: “4+1 seat” SUV vehicles, total value 645 thousand euros including VAT.
Lot Three: 1 “15+1 seat” minibus, value 54 thousand euros including VAT.
Through a preliminary bargaining with the leaders of state institutions, the tenders are declared winners for the companies “Mektrin Motors” and “EUROCAR Rentals” without real competition, or with fictitious competitions.
In addition to these two companies, the Sako & Shahini family owns 11 other companies, which are used to circulate, hide and launder millions of euros related to corruption and the interests of those in power and the criminal groups in their network./ Pamphlet
