The impunity of trafficker Trifon Murataj has set a dangerous precedent: for over a decade, he has operated freely, despite five documented cases of cocaine trafficking and international reports. For the first time, his name as a cocaine trafficker was mentioned on December 30, 2021, when 119 kg of cocaine were seized in the warehouses of the company “Zico” (Bana King). He was not arrested, on the contrary, he lived freely, lunching and dining with senior police officials and prosecutors, while his nephew and driver were used as a facade and then released.
On July 17, 2022, 50 crates of approximately 1.5 tons of cocaine disappeared from the “Bana King” container; on November 4, 2022, 35.5 kg were seized; on December 8, 2023, 1 ton was allowed to leave without control. However, Murataj was never arrested and his activity was not blocked.
His early history shows the failure of the system: from November 2014, when the Ecuadorian Police reported 33 kg of cocaine in the company's container, and until June 2018, when the DEA announced massive cocaine trafficking in collaboration with Arben Isufin, Murataj remained untouchable.
11 years of impunity, five trafficking cases and no arrests. “Bana King” is not just a transport company; it is the symbol of a justice that is silent while crime flourishes. The Albanian public deserves answers, but Trifon Murataj continues to be elusive./ Pamphlet
