Ilir Trebicka, one of the biggest beneficiaries of public assets thanks to his acquaintance with Edi Rama, is not stopping. After many building permits, he will also take over the "Asllan Rusi" Sports Palace.
The project for its development has been awarded to a consortium ( Trema Tech sh.pk + Likado BV + Albanian Capital Group sh.pk + BCN Investements BV + MVRDV ) headed by the company "Trema Tech", owned by Ilir Trebicka.
The project envisages the demolition of the current building and the construction of a new sports complex and residential towers, paving the way for another profitable transformation of a public asset.
According to official announcements, the winning project will build a new sports arena with around 6,000 seats, multifunctional facilities and training spaces, but also includes 26,500 m² of residential and commercial construction. The Municipality of Tirana, which owns the land, will benefit from a new sports facility, while the private partner will be in charge of the construction and sale of residential and commercial units.
The jury that selected the project was headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, along with several other senior administration figures, including Minister Blendi Gonxhe and representatives of the Albanian Investment Corporation (KISH). The latter, authorized by the government in May, acted as the property developer and contracting authority in the selection procedure.
Ilir Trebicka, who is known as a personal friend of Rama, is no stranger to public favoritism schemes. Through another company, “Drimadhe I & I” sh.pk, he previously received the status of strategic investor for the construction of a tourist village in Dhërmi, another public property turned into a commercial project.
The former basketball player turned oligarch, thanks to his friendship with Prime Minister Edi Rama since the time when both were involved in basketball, has benefited from millions of m2 of public property and permits for the construction of towers, palace complexes, villas and resorts from Tirana to Dhërmi. /Pamphlet
