In July 2020, the government and SP MPs, through a fictitious competition in the Parliamentary Laws Committee, appointed Jonaid Myzyri as Chairman of the Public Procurement Committee (KPP), violating every professional and legal criterion for this high and delicate task. An appointment that was not the fruit of a career, but the direct order of Edi Rama, who, through the demands of oligarchic businessmen, brought to that post a convinced notary of large public tenders.
For 5 years in this position, Jonaid Myzyri, labeled by the media as a "tall dwarf", served faithfully to certify every theft in tenders, auctions and concessions. The KPP, under his leadership, was transformed into the court of the mafia of public funds, where every legitimate complaint was signed as "unfounded", while every legal violation of state companies was "archived".
But, in 2024, SPAK launched an investigation, and on June 14, 2025, Jonaid Myzyri was indicted by the GJKKO for "Violation of equality in tenders in collaboration", while the measure of "suspension from duty" and "compulsion to appear" was imposed on him. The road to arrest is only a matter of time.
Babloku sacrifices him: From loyalist to sacrifice
This move by SPAK was not greeted with hysteria by Rama, as in the case of Beqaj, Xhaçka or Manastirliu. On the contrary. Rama remained silent, while the government rushed to submit the files to the BKH, a clear signal that Jonaid Myzyri had become a burden.
Beyond the facade of being selected for a second term at the head of the KPP, the truth is that Babloku had decided to sacrifice him. The 2.29 million euro tender file where the defendant was taken was just a pretext, in the phone seized by the BKH, systematic violations, compromising communications and open interference in decision-making were discovered, related to a series of politically favored strategic tenders.
How it was used and how it was rejected
For 5 years, Jonaid Myzyri covered with his signature all the affairs that came to his table:
· Legalized uncontested wins for government clients
· Rejected any complaints about the tenders of the ARA, Health, and Municipal Reconstruction
· Signed decisions on strategic concessions without legal documentation
Now that he has consumed it, Edi Rama is using it as an alibi to save the system from the shocks of SPAK. It is no coincidence that the same media that once praised him now says that he has been "hostage to some interest groups", selling him as Myzyri's personal problem, which is a state scheme with a political signature.
What happens next?
By law, an investigated person cannot run for a second term on the KPP. This means that Rama will have to conduct a new selection process, where he will either appoint another convinced notary, or if international pressure continues, he may tolerate a “neutral” figure to appear to be reforming.
But one thing is certain: the KPP has become one of the nodes of Albanian state corruption, and the fall of Myzyr is just the tip of the iceberg.
Now, the only institution that can take this file to the end is SPAK. Otherwise, the next "dwarf" will simply be shorter, but will hold the same pen./ Pamphlet
