Cocaine hostages in Ecuador: How the Albanian couple was taken hostage by the

AH from Rrëshen and A. Gjini from Lezha, cocaine buyers on behalf of Albanian groups, were taken hostage by Ecuador's most violent cartel - an extraordinary military operation saved them; "Pamphlet" reveals the identity, role and assets hidden behind this couple.

An unusual and mysterious event has passed without much fanfare in the Albanian media. Two Albanian citizens have been taken hostage in Ecuador by the notorious group "Los Choneros", one of the most powerful drug cartels in Latin America, involved in international cocaine trafficking, executions, kidnappings and money laundering.

The two Albanians were kidnapped along with three Ecuadorian citizens in the Santa Elena area, in the southwest of the country, where the cartel has one of the logistical bases for controlling cocaine routes to Europe. According to local authorities, the kidnapping occurred due to a conflict over control of the market and the supply chain.

Unlike what usually happens, this case immediately activated the Ecuadorian Army and Police. Special forces surrounded the Santa Elena area and engaged in a fierce firefight with cartel members to free the hostages. The operation was kept secret for security reasons and the names of the freed people were not published, except for their nationality.

Who are the Albanians who escaped death?

Reliable sources of "Pamphlet" confirm that it is a couple from northern Albania, specifically a girl from Rrëshen with the initials AH, and a man from Lezha, A. Gjini, both involved in networks of purchasing and transporting cocaine from Latin America to Europe on behalf of large Albanian groups.

According to information confirmed by law enforcement sources and documents circulating in international mail, the couple has been identified as a key link in the purchase of cocaine, preparation of shipments and its transportation through disguised routes in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru.

AH, the girl from Rrëshen, is a surprise name in this world, as she has managed to create direct connections with the cartel structures, exploiting as a woman a dangerous combination of trust and attraction. Her role has been not only for financial agreements, but also for maintaining contacts between Albanian groups and partners in the field of trafficking.

Her partner, A. Gjini from Lezha, is a better-known figure in the Albanian organized crime scene, with direct links to trafficking groups in the Shkodra and Durrës areas. He is responsible for negotiations, logistics and delivery routes, and has been contacted on several occasions by rival groups for related services.

The hidden wealth behind a life of luxury

Both are under investigation by Albanian and international authorities for money laundering and large profits from criminal activity. Their income has been translated into properties, businesses and a riotous lifestyle in Albania and abroad. “Pamphlet” has documents and photos that show the luxury surroundings where they lived, the luxury vehicles they used, as well as the family network that manages assets in Albania on behalf of relatives.

Official sources confirm that further actions against this couple are the subject of an in-depth investigation, due to suspicions that they are not only "buyers" but part of the management of the cocaine supply chain for some of the most powerful Albanian groups, operating in Latin American ports and destinations in Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.

End of the operation?

The operation to rescue the five hostages in Ecuador has been called one of the most successful interventions by law enforcement, but everything has remained hushed up due to the international dimensions of the case. Officially, no communication has been made by the Albanian authorities on the identity and past of the two Albanian citizens released from the hostage-taking.

But the investigation continues. And in all likelihood, what happened in Santa Elena is just the tip of a criminal iceberg that connects Albania to the cocaine cartels of Latin America./ Pamphlet
