The Lëkurës Castle in Saranda, an important historical monument built in 1537 by Sultan Suleiman, has been secretly removed from the list of cultural monuments. According to confidential information for "Pamfleti", the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, by an internal anti-legal order, has removed the castle from the official list of historical monuments and classified it as a "worthless ruin".
The decision was taken deliberately to enable the realization of a massive residential and tourist project, worth 500 million euros, by powerful businessman Dajlan Avdia, a close friend of Prime Minister Edi Rama. The project was approved by the National Council of Territories, with Rama's direct signature, including 68 hectares of public land by the sea, within which the historic castle of Lëkurës is located.
Meanwhile, Lëkurës Castle is still privately administered by the notorious drug trafficker Andrea Çaushi, although the government claimed in a formal decision that it had returned it to the state in August 2023. Andrea Çaushi continues his activity with restaurants, hotels and tourist services within the castle's territory, using over 3,200 m² of land around it for commercial tourist services.
The removal of the Lëkurës Castle from the official list of monuments is the final scheme that paves the way for Dajlan Avdija to develop the luxury resort. This constitutes a serious act against cultural heritage and a flagrant violation of the law, as the castle is not a ruin at all, but a well-preserved monument, with all the original objects.
The concealment of this fact and the collaboration between the government, oligarchs and traffickers, proves the clear scheme of seizing public property, destroying the country's historical and cultural heritage in favor of the corrupt interests of the oligarchy./ Pamphlet
