The Greek authorities in cooperation with the Israeli ones have dismantled an international criminal organization that transported drugs from Western European countries to Israel through Greece.
A total of eight people were arrested, four Ukrainians, three Israelis and one Ethiopian, while the illegal profits are estimated to reach 2.5 million euros.
The organization's plan was to procure drugs (MDMA, ketamine) from Western European countries, transport them to Greece via Bulgaria, and finally bring them to Israel on sailboats.
The operation that led to their arrests was carried out this morning at campsites, rental rooms and the port of Volos.
Among other things, 53 kg of MDMA, 50 kg of ketamine, two caravans and 14 trucks were seized during the control.

The Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate at the Attica Security Directorate, in cooperation with the Israeli authorities, has destroyed an international criminal organization, which was active in the supply, transport and import as well as the hiding of narcotics in Greek territory, with the aim of transporting them further in Israel.
Members of the organization procured narcotics from Western European countries, with the aim of transporting and importing them to Greek territory. The narcotics were then transferred to a vessel, with the final destination being Israel.
At the same time, the role of the members of the organization was established as follows:
- The 44-year-old, a leading member, had taken over the coordination-planning of the illegal action, the recruitment of members, finding the drugs and sending them to Israel,
– Three members (ages 34, 35 and 39), were responsible for obtaining the drugs in Greece and coordinating their transport to Israel, renting a boat and hiding the substances in it,
- Four members (37, 38, 38 and 39 years old) were responsible for taking drugs abroad and importing them to Greece through Bulgaria, with caravans, in which they hid them
- unknown members, the crew of the sailboat, were involved in obtaining drugs in Greece and transporting them by sea to Israel.
From the conducted investigations, among others, the following were found and seized:
The illegal economic benefit of the criminal organization, taking into account the professional infrastructure, continuous action and geographical extent, is calculated to exceed 2,500,000 euros.
Those arrested have been sent to the competent prosecutor's office, while the investigations for the identification and arrest of the remaining members continue.
