"Is this the end of their global order?" Putin's envoy arrives in

An unexpected diplomatic development is taking shape on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, where the official Russian delegation has arrived under the leadership of Kirill Dmitriev, the Kremlin's chief negotiator and one of President Vladimir Putin's closest associates.

Dmitriev, known as the "secret emissary" in Russia's international contacts, announced his participation through a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter), accompanied by an image created with artificial intelligence, which ironically mocked the "collapse of globalization" and the end of the new world order.

"Enthusiasts of globalism are now discussing its collapse. Is this the end of their order?" the caption read, showing leading figures in global finance, including BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, under a bright sun over the snow-capped mountains of Davos. The photo provoked numerous ironic reactions online.

According to Western diplomatic sources, Dmitriev is expected to hold meetings with US officials, including possibly a meeting with President Donald Trump, who is also in Davos and has previously signaled openness to a "new peace formula" for the Ukrainian issue.

Dmitriev's last meetings with the US date back to December, when he had contacts with Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the US president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner - a signal that informal Russia-US communication channels are in active operation, despite public rhetoric.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, January 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to arrive in Davos, where he will hold meetings with his allies and American officials, including new negotiations on a possible peace formula with Russia.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated that contact with the US has been actively restored and is expected to intensify during the forum, to discuss possible ways to end a war that is entering its fourth year and has caused numerous geopolitical crises.

The participation of Putin's envoy and his closeness to key figures in the Trump administration raise new questions about the format that international diplomacy could take if Trump confirms his dominance on the global stage. For many observers, this year's Davos could be not only an economic forum, but also the prelude to a new global political configuration.
