Following the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has sent a strong message, declaring that its "hand is on the trigger" and is ready to respond to any attack with greater force.
He also said that the ceasefire announced this morning is in line with "generally desired demands" from Tehran.
"The ceasefire, with the acceptance of the general principles desired by Iran, was the fruit of the blood of our martyred leader, the great Khamenei, and the result of the participation of all people in the arena. From today, we will continue to stand together, whether in the field of diplomacy, in defense, on the streets or in the sphere of public service," Iranian President Pezeshkian wrote on "X".
The statement, published by the Iranian Tasnim agency, signals that despite the agreement on a temporary ceasefire, tensions remain high.
What does the ceasefire provide for?
The two-week ceasefire was reached at the last moment to avoid a major military escalation, following international diplomatic mediation.
The agreement includes:
Cessation of attacks between the US and Iran
The temporary reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil trade.
The launch of new diplomatic negotiations for a longer-term agreement.
Iran has also presented a plan with several conditions, including the lifting of sanctions and the withdrawal of US forces from the region.
A fragile ceasefire
Although the agreement has been welcomed internationally as a step towards de-escalation, the situation on the ground remains volatile. Various signals indicate that the conflict has not ended and that the parties remain on high military alert.
The Revolutionary Guard's statement is seen as a clear warning that any violation of the agreement could bring an immediate response.
