A plane burst into flames in England after the pilot confused right with left, an investigation into the incident has revealed.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said the error caused a fire in the plane's braking system.
The incident, involving a British Airways flight to Vancouver, Canada, led to the runway being closed for 50 minutes and the cancellation of 23 flights from the West Sussex airport.
A British Airways spokesman said: "Safety is always our highest priority and our pilots brought the aircraft to a safe stop."
According to the AAIB report, there were 13 crew members and 334 passengers on board the plane at the time of the incident. Investigators said the co-pilot "inadvertently" moved a stick to his left, when he should have moved a stick to his right.
No injuries were reported.
According to the report, the co-pilot, who has over 100 hours of flying experience, was "surprised" by the error and "was unable to determine its cause."
The last time he flew on a plane was two weeks before the incident.
