European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has strongly condemned the Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, describing them as unacceptable and in violation of international law.
Through a reaction on social media, she emphasized the European Union's support for partners in the region.
"Today, our partner, the United Arab Emirates, has been targeted again by vicious missile and drone attacks from Iran. I express my full solidarity with Mohamed Bin Zayed, the people of the UAE and our partners across the Middle East ," von der Leyen wrote.
The President of the European Commission described the situation as worrying for international stability. "These attacks are unacceptable and constitute a clear violation of sovereignty and international law," she said.
Von der Leyen also stressed that developments in the region have a direct impact on Europe. "Security in the region has direct consequences for Europe," she declared.
In conclusion, she underlined the EU's commitment to avoid escalation and find a political solution.
"Therefore, we will continue to work closely with our partners on de-escalation and a diplomatic solution to end the Iranian regime's brutal actions, both against its neighbors and against its own people," von der Leyen concluded.
