Benghazi declared 'non grata', EU Commissioner reacts: We will

The European mission laid the foundations for broader cooperation with the Tripoli government, as highlighted in its first reaction after the trip to Libya by the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, and after being declared "non grata" by the Benghazi government.

"We have just concluded our mission in Libya together with the ministers responsible for migration from Greece, Italy and Malta," the European Commissioner wrote in a post on social media.

He informed that "in Tripoli, we held in-depth discussions with Prime Minister Dbeibeh, Foreign Minister Al-Baour, Interior Minister Trabelsi, and Labor Minister Al-Abed."

"We discussed common challenges in the field of migration and reaffirmed the joint commitment to combat migrant smuggling. This mission laid the foundations for broader cooperation," he noted.

Regarding the cancellation of the planned meetings in Benghazi, he simply stated that "in the end they could not take place."
