Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a statement emphasized that Hungary will no longer support Ukraine in any issue in international forums.
" This position will be valid until Ukraine restores the rights that citizens of Hungarian origin have in its territory" , according to the Hungarian Prime Minister.
Budapest accuses Kiev that the rights of about 150,000 citizens of Hungarian origin living in Ukraine have been restricted, they cannot use their native language, especially in education.
The statement comes after Ukraine passed a law in 2017 that placed restrictions on the use of minority languages in schools.
Recently, Ukraine has been in conflict with its western neighbors, namely Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, over wheat exports. Ukraine filed an appeal at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Poland, Hungary and Slovakia for their refusal to lift the ban on the import of its agricultural products.
As reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Kiev considers these bans a violation of the international obligations of these EU member states.
Poland, Hungary and Slovakia had announced their restrictions on Ukraine's wheat imports after the European Commission decided not to extend the ban on imports to Ukraine's five Eastern European member states.
The bans imposed by the Central European countries are aimed at protecting farmers from increased wheat exports from Ukraine following Russia's blockade of Ukrainian Black Sea ports.
