Satellite images from January 3 show a significant presence of US warships near the coast of Venezuela, in a development related to the reported operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

According to analysis of images and security sources, 11 US military ships have been positioned in a coordinated manner about 150 km from the Venezuelan coast, including:

-The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford

-The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima

-Four destroyers

-Three other amphibious ships

-A Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser

-A Special Forces support ship

All of these assets have the capacity to strike land targets from the sea, raising concerns about the scale and intentions of the intervention.

According to statements by General Dan Caine, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, more than 150 aircraft, including bombers, fighter jets, surveillance aircraft and drones, have taken part in the operation codenamed "Operation Absolute Resolve".

On Saturday morning, Delta Force Special Forces units landed by helicopter on Venezuelan territory and, according to reports, arrested Maduro and his wife, who were then transferred to the USS Iwo Jima.
