Tehran signals expansion of conflict in strategic waterway in case of US intervention
An Iranian military source has warned that any possible action by the United States against Kharg Island could lead to an escalation of the situation in the region.
According to statements distributed by an agency close to the Revolutionary Guard, Iran considers this area a strategic target and has signaled readiness for strong reactions if Washington takes concrete steps.
The warning includes the possibility of tensions spreading to important maritime corridors, including the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, which play a key role in energy flows and international trade.
The source stressed that a strike on Kharg Island would affect Iranian oil production, temporarily disrupting it. At the same time, he warned that such a scenario could lead to retaliation against energy infrastructure in the region.
The situation remains sensitive, while signals from both sides indicate increased tensions in an area of strategic importance.
