Failure of negotiations, Putin reacts: Russia proposes diplomatic solution

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his willingness to mediate peace efforts in the Middle East during a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, following the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

Putin has expressed his readiness to support a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict. The official statement emphasizes that Russia aims to achieve a "just and lasting peace" in the region.

The phone call between the two leaders took place today, shortly after marathon 21-hour talks in Islamabad ended without a concrete agreement.

The Kremlin stressed that Moscow is ready to intensify mediation efforts and facilitate dialogue between the parties, at a time when the failure of negotiations has put at risk the fragile ceasefire reached earlier in the week.

Both sides have traded accusations of blocking the process. US Vice President JD Vance described the lack of an agreement as a negative development, especially for Iran.

On the other hand, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, stated that the US has failed to gain Tehran's trust, despite the steps taken by the Iranian delegation.

"The US has understood Iran's logic and principles, and it is time for them to decide whether they can earn our trust or not ," he said.

Meanwhile, shipping data shows that tankers loaded with oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, in the first movements since the ceasefire began.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, stressed that maintaining the two-week ceasefire is essential for reducing tensions in the conflict that began in late February.
