A tragedy happened yesterday in Brazil, where a plane crashed leaving 62 dead.

The plane that crashed was an ATR72-500.

Sources indicate that once the plane also flew in Albania until 2014.

Until 2022, the plane was used by Pelita Air in Indonesia and then by the Brazilian company Voepass until yesterday's tragedy.

The aircraft had a configuration for 68 passengers and was used for regional flights.

The small twin-engine plane had taken off from the city of Cascavel in the southern Brazilian state of Parana, bound for the international airport in Sao Paulo.

The airline Voepass confirmed that its plane was involved in the accident and says that "there is still no confirmation of how the accident happened".

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva observed a minute of silence at an event, as he expressed his condolences to the family.

In the town of Vinhedo, where the plane crashed, officials say only one house in the local condominium complex was damaged.
