Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, also known as the EU 'dictator', will meet with US presidential candidate Donald Trump in Florida on March 8, according to his press office chief, Hungarian news agency MTI said on Sunday evening. .
In February, nationalist Orban wished Trump to return to the US presidency this year.
"We hope that the current president will leave and President Trump will come back and have a free hand to make peace (in Ukraine)," the Hungarian prime minister said on February 23.
Orban has refused to allow his country to send weapons to Ukraine to help it repel the Russian invasion, while criticizing Western sanctions against Moscow. He has repeatedly called for a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.
The Hungarian prime minister, in power since 2010, has strained relations with the Joe Biden administration, largely because of Budapest's delay in ratifying Sweden's NATO membership.
Orban has said that June's US and European presidential elections will be decisive as conservatives on both sides of the Atlantic will have to fight together to "take back" the institutions in Washington and Brussels from the liberals, who, according to the prime minister, Hungarians, threaten Western civilization.
