Republika Srpska will very soon make a decision on independence if the development of events is unfavorable for it, Milorad Dodik, now former president of the Serbian entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said today in Budapest.
Dodik, who was stripped of his mandate as President of Republika Srpska by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on a final conviction, thanked Hungary for its support.
"I informed Hungarian Minister Sijart that German citizen Christian Schmidt (high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina) came to take over the property and all mineral resources, which Republika Srpska will oppose. If things go badly for us, we will very soon make a decision on the independence of Republika Srpska ," Dodik said.

He insisted that Republika Srpska was “forced to do this because of the injustice that is constantly imposed” on Serbs in Republika Srpska and the Serbian people in the Balkans, and accused Brussels of “tolerating the abolition of democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Dodika to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding official office, due to non-implementation of decisions by High Representative Kristijan Šmit, therefore the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina removed his mandate on August 6.
