"We warned that it would happen", the Palestinian ambassador

The ambassador of Palestine in Albania, Hana AS Shawa, has spoken about the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine.

Shawa said that the current situation was a consequence of the lack of political will from the international community in working out a real political solution.

"The State of Palestine has always emphasized the fact of the impossibility of the prospect of peace. This has led to a very difficult situation to control. This is what we are in now" , she said to the Top Channel journalist, Muhamed Veliu.

Excerpt from the interview:

Muhamed Veliu: Who is to blame in this situation?

Ambassador Shawa: Palestine has been under Israeli occupation since 1948, started by Jewish terrorist groups destroying Palestinian villages. What is happening is the fault of Israel, which has invaded us. It is the continuation of an aggression in all of Palestine, not only in the Gaza Strip. We have always warned that the situation would explode, it is irreversible as a result of the lack of political will from the international community to have a real political solution. This is to exert the appropriate pressure on the occupier to sit down at the negotiating table and reach an agreement where the solution is to have two states and so that this is implemented with East Jerusalem as the capital. The failure of the international community to achieve this leads once again to a situation like this. Defenseless civilians are continuously being attacked, being bombed and driven from their homes. What are you waiting for? We welcome you to this invasion. Of course not.

On Saturday morning, the Hamas militant group that rules the Gaza Strip launched a deadly multi-pronged attack on Israel. Meanwhile, Israel responded with airstrikes and yesterday officially declared a state of war. From the latest reports, it is known that the number of victims has reached over 1100, among them 20 children, 700 Israelis and over 400 Palestinians in Gaza. An estimated 2,300 others have been injured in Gaza.
