Charlie Kirk's execution, Trump blames "radical left"/ Flags in

US President Donald Trump has called slain right-wing activist Charlie Kirk a "martyr for truth" and blamed the "radical left" for his death.

"For years, the radical left has compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world's greatest mass murderers and criminals," Trump said.

Activists from Trump's MAGA movement also commemorated Kirk as a martyr who died for conservative values. "Charlie Kirk died on the front lines," far-right ideologue and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon said on "Real America's Voice." "The movement that Charlie Kirk started will never end," right-wing activist Jack Posobiec said in a conversation with Bannon.

The person arrested in the case has been released after questioning, FBI Director Kash Patel announced in X. This is the person Patel had previously mentioned as a suspect. The investigation is ongoing, he wrote.

US President Donald Trump has ordered all flags in the United States to be flown at half-staff until Sunday evening in honor of "great American patriot" Charlie Kirk.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is the culmination of a spiral of political violence in the United States. Just over a year ago, during the US presidential election campaign, an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump. In May of this year, two Israeli embassy employees were killed in Washington, DC, and in June, a Democratic politician and her husband were shot dead in the US state of Minnesota.

Charlie Kirk said in April 2023 in a political panel discussion on gun violence in the US.

"You're never going to be able to live in a society where citizens are armed and there are no gun deaths. That's absurd. But I believe it's worth it. I think it's worth, unfortunately, accepting a few gun deaths every year so that we have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That's a reasonable compromise."
