Israel's fall into barbarism will be paid for by all of us, and for a long

From the use of the term genocide to comparing the Gaza war to the conflict in Ukraine, all the most blatant provocations and distortions have been gradually legitimized...

Donald Trump's repeated calls for the ceasefire agreement to be accepted, officially addressed to both sides, were followed yesterday by Israel's attack on the Hamas delegation in Qatar that was supposed to review the proposal. The American response was contained in a weak statement: " The unilateral bombing of Qatar, a sovereign nation and close ally of the United States that is working hard and taking bold risks with us to achieve peace, does not advance the goals of Israel or America ." He then added: " The elimination of Hamas, which has profited from the misery of the people of Gaza, is a just objective."

Much like what is happening in Ukraine, where Trump's calls for negotiations are regularly followed by increasingly ferocious Russian bombing, without any visible consequences, at least so far. This shows once again the inconsistency of Trump's famous diplomacy, or rather its non-existence, being, in fact, pure theater, a propaganda invention without any basis, both in the Middle East and in Ukraine.

It remains to be seen, if anything, how long Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu’s other supporters, essentially the entire happy sovereignist and national-populist family, from Viktor Orbán in Hungary to the entire Italian government, will be able to continue to lend a helping hand without paying any price. That is, how long ideological affinity, personal solidarity, and even outright complicity (at least in the case of the United States) with what currently appears to be one of the most unpopular leaders in the world will not seriously erode their support.

So far, it doesn't seem to have happened, certainly not to the extent of the growing outrage caused around the world by the behavior of the Israeli government. The problem is that the right may not pay for all this, at least in Italy, for some strange reason, Italian fascists tend to be extremely indignant when they see Israeli fascists behaving like fascists towards the Palestinians, although not to the point of depriving their most staunch allies and supporters at home of their votes, but, in a broader sense, we will certainly pay for this.

Israel's unstoppable descent into barbarism makes it increasingly difficult, at least for anyone not completely blinded by partisan divisions, to insist on defending the differences, borders, and issues of principle that the scale of the massacres and the arrogance of official acts and statements have practically burned away.

From the use of the term genocide to the comparison of the Gaza war to the conflict in Ukraine, all the most blatant provocations and distortions have been gradually legitimized, ex post, by the behavior of the Israeli government. To the point of effectively silencing anyone who refused to be complicit, even in the face of the triumph, in the public debate, of arguments and figures that are, to say the least, ambiguous towards Hamas, Islamist terrorism, and Arab regimes.

The humanitarian catastrophe in the Middle East will also be accompanied by a political and civil catastrophe in the West, where it is expected that anti-Semitism, exploited for a very long time to delegitimize any criticism, will not only no longer be a taboo, assuming it still is, but will eventually become a source of pride and a mark of distinction./ Adapted from "Pamphlet" by "Linkiesta"
