US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the deployment of additional military forces to the Middle East to continue operations against Iran. During a press conference, he stressed that the country will take all the time necessary to achieve victory.

Speaking about the situation in the Middle East, Hegseth said the US is not rushing and will choose the right time to ensure success. As he put it, "it's too early," also echoing President Donald Trump's words that the country will take all the time it needs to ensure victory.
Hegseth described the results of the past four days as "incredible" and "historic," adding that the Iranian government is "done" and knows it. He also said that US forces have begun to "hunt down, dismantle, destroy and defeat" the Iranian regime's capabilities.
He added that Iranian leaders will only look at "American and Israeli air power" until both countries decide the war is over.
After the press conference, he stressed that this conflict "was never designed as a just war and it is not a just war," adding that the United States is striking Iran "while it is at a disadvantage."
As he said, "bigger and bigger waves are coming, we've just begun."
"We sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean," the defense secretary confirmed.
He also said that in the Indian Ocean, the US had sunk "an Iranian warship that they thought was safe in international waters." "Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo," he said. Hegseth did not name the Iranian ship that was attacked.
However, earlier the Sri Lankan navy reported that the IRIS Dena ship had sunk in the Indian Ocean, with about 140 people on board missing.

Continuing his speech, he emphasized that his forces "tracked down and killed" the leader of a unit that tried to assassinate Donald Trump.
