While 31 newborn babies have been evacuated from Gaza's al Shifa hospital, eight others, according to Gaza's health ministry, died due to "unsanitary conditions".
Spokesman Ashraf al Qedrah stated that around 259 injured people remain in the medical complex, along with the hospital staff.
" Specialized medical teams are still present with the wounded because we have refused to let the medical teams leave unless the last wounded man leaves. We are trying with the United Nations to get them and medical teams to hospitals in the Gaza Strip and others outside the Strip ," he said.
"Death zone" was the phrase used by a visiting WHO mission to describe the al Shifa hospital, which the UN agency's director-general said was no longer functioning.
Israeli forces seized al Shifa last week, saying it was hiding an underground Hamas command center - but a doctor at the hospital told Reuters they had "found nothing" during the searches.
