The party of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic won this Sunday's elections. It convincingly won the general election by taking the largest number of seats in parliament.
The opposition hoped, but it seems that it could not even take Belgrade, which it had announced as its goal.
According to preliminary data, Vucic's party received 38.2% of the votes for Belgrade, followed by the "Serbia against violence" coalition with 35.1% of the votes. Immediately after the results came out, Vucic addressed the citizens with a live speech on TV.
"The list "Serbia must not be stopped" will have an absolute majority in the parliament. So far, we have not found any polling station in Serbia where we received fewer votes than in the previous elections. So, in all polling stations, support is increasing by 10% on average compared to what we had a year ago", the Serbian president emphasized.
According to published estimates, until 19:00 the participation in the parliamentary elections was 55.9%.
In last year's elections, participation was 54.6%. In Belgrade until 19.00 the participation was 54.3% while in the last elections it was 54.8%.
