
A car crashed into a group of people in the center of Stuttgart. Several people were reportedly injured as a result of the accident.
The incident occurred at around 5:50 p.m. on Charlottenstrasse, the busy multi-lane intersection of the B 27 and Olgastrasse in central Stuttgart.
Fire and rescue services went to the scene with a large number of forces.
According to German media, a Mercedes G-Class collided with a group of pedestrians while turning onto a pedestrian crossing leading to the Olgaeck tram station.

Initially, rescue workers assumed there were three victims, then six and finally eight. A spokesman said that "unfortunately, three of the injured are seriously injured. They were taken to hospitals in Stuttgart."
According to eyewitnesses, a woman with a stroller was also hit by the heavy SUV. Images from the scene of the accident show a destroyed stroller on the tram tracks. The driver of the G-Class was temporarily detained by police.

The area around the intersection has been closed to police and emergency services, and city and metro lines have also been suspended until further notice.
