Gaza opens the corridor with Egypt after US pressure, the evacuation of foreigners is expected

The Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt will open on Saturday, October 21 at 10 am local time according to the US Embassy.

The move will allow foreigners to leave Gaza, which is under Israeli fire.

In a social media post, the embassy said it had "received information" that the crossing would be opened this morning.

"We don't know how long it will remain open for foreign nationals to leave Gaza," he added.

The embassy said it expected "many people would try to cross" and those trying to enter Egypt "should expect a potentially chaotic and disorderly environment on both sides of the crossing".

"The situation remains dynamic and fluid and the security environment is unpredictable. You should assess your personal safety and security before choosing to move to the border or attempt to cross," the embassy said.
