German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has stated that Germany is facing numerous attacks every day. Dobrindt emphasized that these attacks are on a higher scale than cyber attacks.
"We are experiencing cyberattacks, sanctions circumvention, arson, all on a scale we have never seen before, Germany is the target of hybrid attacks every day," he said.
Dobrindt has described the intensity of the attacks as a stress test for democracy.
He stressed that Germany will toughen its response to attacks. According to him, it should not be forgotten that Germany also knows how to attack and destroy.
"Anyone who attacks us in cyberspace should be aware: we will defend ourselves in the future! Remember, we also know how to attack and destroy," he stressed.
Federal Criminal Police Director Holger Munch also stressed that democracy is under pressure from within and without. The German government recently decided that the Bundeswehr will be allowed to shoot down drones that enter German territory.
