About 20 masked men forced their way into Heller Jewelers in San Ramon, smashing glass windows and taking jewelry worth an estimated $1 million, a San Ramon Police Department press release confirmed.
The store's security camera footage captured the dramatic moments of the robbery. According to police, several of the perpetrators were armed and at least one of them fired a gun towards the store's main entrance. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Another video released by the police shows the robbers running towards cars parked near the jewelry store to quickly leave the scene. Police forces pursued some of the vehicles, but due to the danger to citizens, the pursuit was interrupted. So far, some of the suspects have been arrested, while full investigations to identify the other perpetrators continue.
After the incident, Heller Jewelers posted a statement on social media, thanking the community for their support. "We are deeply grateful that no one was hurt. That is the most important thing," the company said in a statement.
