Hostage Families Forum mobilizes Israel in national strike against Gaza war, as Netanyahu calls protesters 'Hamas allies'
Israel is engulfed today by a general national strike and mass protests called by the Hostage Families Forum, demanding an end to the war in Gaza and an agreement to release the hostages still in the hands of Hamas.
Since the early hours of the morning, tens of thousands of citizens have blocked the country's highways and main roads, turning Tel Aviv into the epicenter of the civil revolt. Organizers predict that by the evening, over a million people will fill Tel Aviv's Hostage Square, while hundreds of initiatives have been announced across the country.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted sharply to the strike, calling it an act that serves the enemy.

"Those who today demand an end to the war are not only strengthening Hamas's position and delaying the release of the hostages, but are ensuring that the horrors of October 7 will be repeated. This will lead us towards an endless war," Netanyahu declared, insisting that security control in the Gaza Strip and the disarmament of Hamas remain the fundamental conditions for ending the conflict.
Israeli police announced that 38 people were arrested during the protests, 19 of whom were in Tel Aviv alone. The security forces said they had taken "strict measures against those who violate the law and endanger public order," while clashes between protesters and police were particularly marked in areas where highways were blocked.

One moment that caught the media's attention was the public appearance of Israeli actress Gal Gadot, known for her role as Wonder Woman and most recently as the Evil Queen in Disney's Snow White. Gadot visited Hostage Square, where she was seen hugging and talking to Lishay Miran-Lavi, the wife of a hostage held by Hamas.
The actress, who has been vocal on social media in support of hostage families, has further amplified the nationwide strike. Footage of her among the crowd has been widely shared by the Hostage Families Forum.
Today's strike and protests, which have disrupted daily life in Israel, are being read by analysts as the biggest internal challenge to the Netanyahu government since the start of the Gaza war.
While the government insists that military victory and the disarmament of Hamas are necessary, a growing part of Israeli society is demanding an immediate ceasefire and the return of hostages, scaring official Tel Aviv that the domestic front is cracking. /Pamphlet
