At the Pentagon press conference, the US Secretary of War said it is up to Iran to choose the deal with the US...
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has issued a strong warning to Iran, urging it to come to terms and cooperate with the US before it is too late.
Regarding the US-Iran negotiations, Hegseth said that if the Iranians make the wrong choice, then they will have to face both the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and bombing.
"Under President Trump's leadership, we at the War Department will ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. We prefer to do this the good way through a deal (...) or we can do it the hard way. We urge the Iranian leadership to choose wisely," Pete Hegseth stressed.
At many points in his speech, the US Secretary of War addressed the Iranians directly in the first person plural with warnings, while emphasizing the military power of the Americans.
Pete Hegseth pointed out that, while Iran likes to "publicly" claim it controls the Strait of Hormuz, "it can't control anything."
He noted that Iran's threat to shoot down merchant ships "is not control, it's piracy."
The US minister claimed that the US is implementing a "successful" blockade of the Strait and is operating with "less than 10% of its naval power".
"The United States Navy controls traffic entering and leaving the Straits because we have real assets and capabilities, and we do this blockade with less than 10% of America's naval power. The calculation is clear. We use 10% of the most powerful navy in the world, while you have 0% of your navy. This is real control," Hegseth emphasized.
At the end of his statement, Hegseth said the US is equipped and "ready for action."
