Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said his country supports the European Union's proposal to partially suspend Israel's access to the Horizon Europe research and innovation fund.
He expressed his government's position that Palestinians in Gaza should be given immediate and safe access to humanitarian aid.
"If the EU decides tomorrow that Israel is not in compliance with the relevant agreements on this, the Netherlands supports the plan to suspend Israel's participation in the EU's Horizon research program. If this is confirmed, tomorrow in Brussels the Netherlands will also demand further European measures, for example in the field of trade ," he wrote in X.
Schoof added that the Netherlands is also considering taking measures to "increase the pressure" and that he has informed Israeli President Isaac Herzog about this. He also called on Hamas to cooperate fully to ensure that people in Gaza are given access to aid.
