The death of a 3-year-old boy in Alexandroupolis is taking on tragic proportions, after an autopsy showed that the child died of cardiac arrest due to multiple organ failure, as a result of starvation.
The autopsy was completed shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Alexandroupolis University General Hospital, shedding light on the causes of death of the young child, who had been taken to the hospital unconscious.
With the duration of the child's malnutrition still undetermined, the images presented are shocking, as it proves that starvation was linked to the three-year-old's death.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigations are ongoing. The child's mother, as well as her parents, in whose house they lived in a neighborhood of Alexandroupolis, are at the Police Department, where they are testifying as part of the investigation. According to information, tomorrow, Thursday, they are expected to appear before the prosecutor.
The unfortunate little boy was taken to the hospital by his mother shortly before 12:00 noon. Despite the immediate mobilization of medical staff, doctors determined that the child was already dead upon arrival at the emergency room.
In the coming days and after the completion of statements from the mother and relatives, the father is said to live and work in Turkey, it is expected that the conditions under which the child was not fed, as well as the duration of the hunger, will be clarified.
