The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has reacted to the attack that took place on Monday night in the center of Brussels, where two young people were killed.
Stoltenberg, through a post on the "X" platform, wrote that he condemns the terrible attacks on innocent civilians.
" I condemn the horrific attacks on innocent civilians in Brussels, Belgium. My thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims and all those affected ," Stoltenberg wrote.
It has been reported that the two victims were wearing Swedish national team uniforms, at the time when the European qualification match between Belgium and Sweden was taking place. A police spokesman confirmed that two people had been killed in the shooting, but declined to provide further details.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo linked the incident to terrorism. In a post on "X", he wrote: " I have just offered my sincere condolences to the Swedish Prime Minister following tonight's horrific attack on Swedish citizens in Brussels. Our thoughts are with the families and friends who lost loved ones. As close partners, the fight against terrorism is a common fight ," he wrote.
