American journalist Peter Arnett, one of the most well-known names in international journalism and a Pulitzer Prize winner, has died at the age of 91.
The news was announced by the Associated Press, the agency with which Arnett was affiliated for a long period of his career.
Arnett died in Newport Beach, surrounded by family and friends. His son, Andrew Arnett, confirmed that the journalist had been in critical condition since Saturday due to prostate cancer.
Peter Arnett made history in 1966 when he won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting for his reporting on the Vietnam War for the Associated Press.
From 1962 until the end of the conflict in 1975, he was constantly on the ground, reporting from the front lines of the war and bringing to the American and world publics a firsthand account of the reality of the conflict.
