A dramatic clash erupted in the Oval Office on Friday between President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, an unusually acrimonious display that only underscored the deeply uncertain future of American aid to Kiev.
Criticizing Zelensky for not demonstrating enough gratitude for American support, Trump and his vice president, JD Vance, raised their voices, accusing the beleaguered leader of obstructing a peace deal with Russia as the full-scale occupation has surpassed its third year.
After the meeting, the two leaders went to separate rooms and Trump ordered the Ukrainians to leave, a White House official said. The Ukrainians protested and wanted to continue the talks. But they were told no, a White House official said.
The planned joint press conference was canceled and Zelensky left in his black SUV without signing a planned agreement to provide US access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals.
At least that's what CNN and other international media outlets in the White House are reporting. This is one side of the story, maybe we'll get a reaction from Ukraine later to say whether they left on their own or were expelled.
