The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has expressed her strong support for Ukraine.
Kallas stated that Europe stands by Zelensky, adding that they will increase support for Kiev so that they can continue to fight against the aggressor.
"Ukraine is Europe! We stand by Ukraine. We will increase our support for Ukraine so that they can continue to fight against the aggressor. Today it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to us, the Europeans, to rise to this challenge," Kallas said.
Meanwhile, Germany's future Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, has also stated that he stands by Ukraine in good and difficult times.
Merz adds that one cannot compare the aggressor with the victim in this terrible war.
"Dear Volodymyr Zelensky, we stand with Ukraine in good times and in trials. We must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war," Merz said.
These statements come after a bitter clash between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
During the meeting, Trump accused Zelensky of ingratitude and demanded that Ukraine make concessions to Russia to achieve peace, while Zelensky refused, citing war crimes committed by Russia and stressing that compromise was impossible.
As a result, the planned press conference was canceled and the proposed agreement on rare earth minerals between the US and Ukraine was not signed.
