The United States seems to have changed its position regarding the downing of Prigozhin's plane. Initially, "Reuters" and "Sky News", referring to the sources, stated that the US was certain that the plane was shot down with a surface-to-air missile.
But the Associated Press reports that according to US and Western officials, a preliminary assessment by US intelligence has found that the crash of the Embraer jet was caused by an explosion on board.
According to officials who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity, the outburst is consistent with President Putin's "long history of trying to silence his critics." Officials did not provide further details on what may have caused the explosion.
