The UK Ministry of Defense has announced that Ukraine has successfully breached the Russian front line in several parts of the country over the past 48 hours.
In its latest intelligence update, the Ministry of Defense said there had been significant operations in several sectors in eastern and southern Ukraine.
He said that good progress has been made by the troops in some areas, where they have penetrated the first line of Russian defense.
"In others, Ukrainian progress has been slower," he writes in the announcement.
Russia's defense has been "mixed", the Ministry of Defense says, with some units "conducting credible maneuver defense operations" and others retreating "in some disorder".
Reports of Russian casualties are mounting as its army is forced to withdraw "across their minefields", the ministry said.
Otherwise, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has declared that Ukraine's counterattack has begun.
