A series of attacks on military bases in the Middle East has significantly increased tensions in the region, including targets linked to international missions and Western forces.
In Lebanon, a rocket attack hit the Italian base in Shama, part of the UN UNIFIL mission. According to official Italian sources, no injuries were reported, but damage was caused to military infrastructure. The incident is being monitored by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and Chief of General Staff Luciano Portolano, who are in direct contact with the Italian command on the ground.
The target hit also included the Italian headquarters that serves as the center of the Western sector of UNIFIL, which is led by Italy. The authorities of the Joint Operational Command (COVI) have launched verifications to clarify the circumstances of the attack.
Meanwhile, according to the Iranian Mehr news agency, Iran has launched drone attacks on US warplanes stationed at the Al Azraq base in Jordan. There is no independent confirmation yet of the consequences of these attacks.
Along the same lines, the Fars agency published a list of infrastructure facilities in the region, including bridges in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Jordan, which could be considered potential targets of Iranian military operations.
Developments indicate a possible expansion of the conflict in several parts of the Middle East, while international authorities are monitoring the situation carefully.
