Iranian authorities have arrested around 500 people suspected of providing information to "enemies", the Islamic Republic's police chief, Ahmadreza Radan, announced.
According to his statements, quoted by Reuters, about half of the cases are related to serious incidents, including people who have provided information about hitting targets and individuals who have filmed the attack sites and sent the footage abroad.
Radan did not provide further details on the time period when the arrests were made.
Earlier, Iranian media reported dozens of other arrests in several regions of the country.
In northwest Iran, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that 20 people were arrested on charges of sending information about Iran's military and security positions to Israel, according to the provincial prosecutor's office.
Meanwhile, in the northeast of the country, an area that has so far been less affected by airstrikes, 10 more people were arrested, some of whom are suspected of collecting information on sensitive locations and economic infrastructure.
