The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reacted after the killing of Reuters journalist, Issam Abdallah, who was killed yesterday by an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon, while 6 other people were injured.
They say that they are investigating the "incident" where the journalist lost his life, but they did not accept that he was killed by the Israeli attack.
Reuters videographer Issam Abdallah was killed when Israel fired artillery into the area where he and other journalists had gathered to report yesterday. As a result of the attack, 6 other people were injured. They were wearing jackets with press labels at the time of the attack, CNN reports.
Without naming Abdallah, IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht said his death was "a tragic thing" for which they were very sorry, but denied that it was an Israeli attack that claimed the journalist's life. He added that they have visuals of the incident and are reviewing them.
Journalists from international news organizations Al Jazeera, Agence France Presse and Reuters were among the victims of the incident, which marks one of the worst press disasters yet to emerge from Israel's war against Hamas.
