Israel declares a total blockade on Gaza, food, electricity, water and fuel are

Israel has declared a total blockade of Gaza, including a ban on food, electricity, water and fuel.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Monday that authorities would cut off electricity and block the entry of food and fuel as part of "a complete siege" in Hamas-held Gaza.

Gallant described the move as part of a war against "beast-men."

"We are putting a complete siege on Gaza ... No electricity, no food, no water, no gas - it's all shut down," Gallant said in a statement to the media.

Israel and Egypt have imposed varying degrees of blockade on Gaza since Hamas took power from rival Palestinian forces in 2007.

The top military spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, told reporters that Israel has "control" of its border communities.

He said there had been some isolated incidents on Monday morning but that "at this stage, there is no fighting in the communities".

He added that "there may still be terrorists in the region".

Remember that Israel controls the airspace over Gaza and the coastline, prohibiting what goods are brought in. While Egypt controls who passes in and out of the border with Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces said alarm sirens are being heard in Jerusalem and across Israel due to rockets being fired from Gaza. At least 3 explosions were heard in Jerusalem.

It is not yet clear whether the rockets exploded on the ground or were intercepted by the Israeli air defense system.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari, said that they have restored control of all communities near the wall with Gaza. However, it reported that clashes between Palestinian fighters are taking place.
